Kickstarter Project for Suburbs New Album

I've committed to my first Kickstarter project.  For those unfamiliar with it, Kickstarter is a platform that provides tools for creative projects to be funded by crowd funding.  In my example, the Suburbs (a beloved Minneapolis band from the '80's) are looking to launch a new album, but need to raise $65,000 to do so.  You can see their Kickstarter page here.

With three days to go, they're short, and I'm not sure if they'll be able to get there from here.  And the way Kickstarter works is that if the endeavor doesn't get fully funded, those that committed to invest are under no obligation.

Personally, I hope they make it.

Here's a release from their new album if they can pull it off

  1. Why does a band like the Suburbs need Kickstarter to launch a new album? Not sure I understand that one...

  2. Because they haven't released an album since the early '90's and most of them are likely broke.

  3. The Suburbs were such a major influential band during the new wave movement in the early 80's. Unfortunately they never obtained rock stardom as they most definitely should have. Remember, they haven't been on a major label since 1987. Food for thought YDP: Chan is still married to that ignorant loser Walter Mondale's daughter, correct? Why can't he chip in some coin for the recording? Ha. Rock on.

  4. Scott, I thought the same thing about the Mondale angle. I'd think Chan has access to the coin to pull it off, but doubt the other guys can scrape together much, and maybe that's the reason they went the Kickstarter route. I hope they pull it off. We'll see.

Please feel free to include any thoughts you may have. Know, however, that kiddos might be reading this, so please keep the adult language to yourself. I know, for me to ask that language is clean is a stretch...
