Our politicians - both sides - are attempting to make political hay out of a pandemic (and make no mistake, we're already at the pandemic stage). It's repugnant, vile, and shows just how far we've fallen. Where is our humanity?
However, one side is cheering - CHEERING - market crashes, recession, illness, and death.
Here's a hint: If you need people to die in order for you to score political points, that makes you evil.
Abjectly, definitionally, and sickeningly evil.

Joe Biden = Yosemite Sam
A "lying dog-faced pony soldier?"
Where have we heard that before?

Romney the Saint
As Romney faced off against Barak Obama a few short years ago, we were treated to a lot of descriptions of him by the left:
- Uber-rich
- Out of touch
- Bigot
- Magic underwear wearing
- Religious zealot
- Homophobe
- Nazi
- 1%
- Racist
- Misogynist (remember how the "binders of women" quote was treated?)
- Etc.
- Honorable
- Principled
- Grounded
- Fair-minded
- True to his religion
- Etc.
Sorry, Democrats. You played the Nazi, racist, homophobe, etc. card - not only on Mitt, but also on Bush, McCain, and everyone else with an (R) behind their name for the past twenty years. And also on everyone that chose to vote for and support them.
And that's EXACTLY what got Trump elected.
The time for reaching across the aisle was decades ago. Your current embrace of Mitt is rich.
Literally and figuratively.
You made this bed. Sleep in it.

On Rush
On his show Monday, Rush Limbaugh announced he had stage 4 lung cancer.
I started listening to Rush in 1990 during the Gulf War. While I've not been a regular listener for a number of years, I've always been a fan of his steadfast and resolute conservative convictions. In many respects, his is the last voice left of the true conservative.
No, he's no saint, and his bombast rubbed many the wrong way. That being said, when conversing with someone with whom he disagreed, he always did so respectfully, and with an eye toward conversation. No personal put-downs. Just conversation, albeit with a hope of perhaps changing a mind.
I heard his announcement, and he sounded weak. I saw his picture, and he had lost a ton of weight - weight which plagued him his whole life. I came away from those engagements concluding that he is indeed a very sick man. His odds are incredibly long, if not completely insurmountable.
In the wake of the announcement came the vultures. The comments at the Huffington Post (the only area I allowed myself to read) were stomach-turning. His impending death is being met with glee. Unmitigated, hate-filled glee.
I won't link to that garbage and I won't say any more about it, other than if your political side celebrates the impending death of someone on the other side for the sin of political disagreements, you and your ilk are beyond sick.
And, as it turns out, you're even worse than what you imagined Rush thought of you.
Rush had a saying, "Rush is right." Even in the announcement of his greatest fight, he's proving that phrase correct.

Shoptalk 100% Women
Shoptalk is a conference in support of retail and retailers. It's also woke. I mean really, freaking woke.
How woke? This year, all of their 257 speakers will be women. Not. One. Man.
They justify this by claiming that currently there are only 5% female heads at S&P 500 companies. Forget the myriad logical and reasonable reasons for this. Forget the fact that retail, among all other business sectors, has been historically the most gender-diverse in terms of leadership, and has been for decades.
Nope, Shoptalk has a point to make, and men can just shut the hell up.
Personally, I know where I'm not welcome, and I'm certainly not welcome at Shoptalk. Hence, I won't be attending this year.
In fact, I won't be attending any year.
Here's a hint - discrimination, even if it's to prove how woke you are, is still discrimination. And that, Shoptalk, makes you scumbags.
Enjoy your conference.

Why Trump Wins in 2020
The media thinks that you're an idiot. A raving, southern drawl, uneducated idiot.
And they hate your racist, homophobe, gun-loving guts.
And sometimes all that hatred bubbles up to the surface. Like this:
Unless you think EXACTLY like them, you're hated.
And that's why Trump wins in 2020.

Trump to Speak at Today's March for Life
In an unprecedented move, President Trump will be the first sitting president to speak in-person to the crowd today at the annual March for Life. For those that may not know the event, the March is an annual rally at the Mall in Washington DC for the right to life. It draws in excess of 100,000 (last year's estimate was 200,000) and is routinely ignored by the mainstream media.
I mean buried. Zero reporting.
The media has the story this year, claiming that Trump is using it to obfuscate from his impeachment proceedings. Personally, I think the move is brilliant. Trump is using the media's hatred of him to cast light onto an event that they have attempted to shield from mainstream America for decades. Real jujitsu stuff by Trump.
It will be interesting to see how the media cover the story today. Expect crowd sizes to be downsized if not abjectly ignored. And certainly, the messages of the March will absolutely be ignored. We'll see how it all plays out. In the meantime, we wish the attendees a good march, and that their efforts change hearts and policies.

Tax Day
On the day after Uncle Sam gets his paperwork, it seems only fitting to discuss how incredibly broken our tax system is.
Its complexity is a scam designed to have the poor and/or unintelligent pay more than they should. There's no other answer.
A moderately complex return took me approximately 8 hours total to complete and over $125 in software. Had I taken some easier paths it would have gone a lot faster and would have been a lot more expensive. Likewise, without the software, I have no idea how long it would have taken me - likely three times longer or worse, and it's painful to even consider.
Given the difficulty of navigating the process, it is hard not to feel like the government is ripping us off. Because they are.
Spare me the "civic duty" and "benefits of living here" talk. The process should be a lot more simple and is clearly hurting people. That's wrong.
And these are the same people we want in charge of our health care. God help us.

The New Christians Vs. the Lions
In just the past couple of weeks, we've seen Christianity under attack by the Left:
For all their talk of tolerance, the Left are the biggest bigots in our society.
- Mike Pence's wife was called out as a bigot for substitute teaching at a Christian school
- Multiple appointment nominees were called out for their participation in the hate group Knights of Columbus
- The March for Life was summarily ignored by the press (again), except for the Covington Catholics, in which case calls for their deaths, the firing and deaths of their family, and the deaths of those that attend their school went out.
For all their talk of tolerance, the Left are the biggest bigots in our society.

Social Media is a Cesspool
If I didn’t need it as an important part of my job, I’d quit all social media starting tomorrow.
Social media is a cesspool. It is replete with lies, bias, hate, and prejudice. As the latest example, in just the past two weeks, I’ve had many, many “friends” touting the Gillette ad, and supporting the ruin of the Covington Catholic kids.
I’ve dropped them all. Of all my “friends” on Facebook, I now formally follow less than half. The rest I’ve blocked. It’s that bad.
If you deal in hate, that makes you a hater. If you hate men, that makes you a sexist. If you hate Catholics for showing up at the March for Life so much that you’re willing to spread lies and ask for people to be hurt, that makes you an anti-religious bigot at best, and a lawless anarchist at worst.
I no longer have time for you. Begone from my life.
One of the things I’m looking forward to in my future retirement is walking away from social media and never returning. It can’t get here fast enough.

Minnesota Rep's Intolerance
Ah, the religion of peace rears its ugly head again. This time, it is courtesy of our new representative from Minnesota:
If roles would have been reversed, Washington would still be burning.
If you're a white Christian man, society just freaking hates you, and they don't even think about trying to hide it.

Kavanaugh Trial is the OJ Trial. Part Two
Welcome to the OJ trial. You know it well. One aggrieved portion of our society is going to finally make the other side pay via their day in court, and it matters not what the evidence does or doesn't show. Women have been suffering at the hands of men since the dawn of time, and now men are finally going to pay, rule of law be damned.
And when it's all over, we'll hate each other even more.
Do I believe Ford? I believe something happened to her. Do I believe Kavanaugh? I do indeed. Beyond her testimony, is there one piece of evidence to back up Ford's claim of Kavanaugh's guilt? Not one. In fact, what Ford claims as evidence isn't corroborated anywhere. Her "evidence" exonerates Kavanaugh!
While Ford is credible, her specific accusations against Kavanaugh are not. Not at all.
Doesn't matter. Just like white folks had to pay in the OJ trial, regardless of the evidence, men need to pay now. That's why, at the protest at the capitol, a woman was wearing a "men are trash" t-shirt. Not "Kavanagh." Not "abusers."
"Men."
And was lauded for it.
You can own one too. There are plenty of options out there. Just Google it.
Nearly 25 years after OJ, and race relations are worse than they've been before the trial. Oh, sure, we elected a black president. And what did that get us? Things getting continually worse. Expect the same from the Kavanaugh event, regardless of what happens in the actual decision.
I fear this is the start of something terrible that will absolutely tear our families, our communities, and our nation apart. Hate reigns.
To invoke Johnny Cochran:
If she claims she's aggrieved
She MUST be believed
That's our rule of law now.
And when it's all over, we'll hate each other even more.

Kavanaugh Accusation Nothing But a Hit Job
Sorry, but the 23rd hour accusation that Brett Kavanaugh attempted to rape someone 35 years ago when he was 17 is nothing but a delay tactic from Democrats. Consider:
- Democrat leadership had this "accusation" for months, yet sat on it until the last hour
- The accuser offers no corroborating evidence
- She claims a witness to the event, who, like Kavanaugh, states emphatically that the situation never occurred
- The accuser told nobody of this event until a couple of years ago when Kavanaugh was being considered for SCOTUS
Save me the tripe about her passing a lie detector test. First off, she's a psychology professor. Second, in my Psych 101 class we actually covered how to beat a lie detector test.
Save me as well the tripe about her risking all. Please. Her book deal, HBO special, and Go Fund Me page will make her a millionaire. She's winning the lottery.
This is politics at its absolute worst.
And the worst part? Women that have credible stories of abuse at the hands of men - stories from the current decade and involve 911 calls for example - they take a credibility hit.
Or not. Nobody on the Dem side was going to believe anyone that accused Keith Ellison of anything, right?

Nike Walks Away from Customers
By now you've surely heard that Nike has launched their latest version of their famed "Just Do It" campaign, but this one is featuring Colin Kaepernick:
There have been a lot of responses to this, the best being a replacement of Kaepernick's face with fallen hero Pat Tillman. There's sacrificing everything, then there's sacrificing everything.
I won't get into rehashing the whole Kaepernick, Black Lives Matter, kneeling protest. There's enough of that out there. But you know what else Nike thinks there's enough of out there? Customers. The whole NFL thing has divided a country, and by picking a side, Nike has effectively pissed off millions - let me state that again - MILLIONS of customers. Much like Dick's Sporting Goods did with guns, Nike is deeming it more important to be a Social Justice Warrior than it is to serve its customers.
Perhaps they feel that their SJW move can endear them to other non-Nike customers, and woke folks buying other brands will flock to Nike and offset non-woke customers. Perhaps they just don't care, and like so many nowadays, they believe they're right, and if you don't agree with them then you're a bigot and you don't deserve to buy Nikes anyway. I don't know.
As a marketer, I do know that acquiring customers and protecting market share, especially in a mature category like shoes, is a bare-knuckled fight. It's damned hard work.
Given how hard it is, why would you ever simply walk away from people that literally ensure that you have food on the table?
I'm so tired of politics everywhere, and I'm particularly tired of politics in sports. It used to be a last bastion where folks of different persuasions could find common ground. Now, you either prove how woke you are, or you run the risk of being a racist, fascist, Nazi, or homophobe, even when following your favorite team.
Regardless of my political slant, the marketer in me wishes Nike nothing but failure. The minute you take your customers for granted, especially for something like not being woke enough for you, that's the time your long-term business prospects are dubious.

Left Cries Crocodile Tears in McCain's Death
This weekend the United States lost a true hero. John McCain conducted himself with honor and dignity, damn near his entire life, while those around him crawled through the sewer. His actions in the Hanoi Hilton alone are renown, and his political service as truly been that - service. He has been deservedly honored by those on the left and the right for his honorable service and for his legacy.
Except the left doesn't mean it.
In the campaign against Obama, McCain might as well have been Satan. He was called out of touch and old at best, and warmonger, Nazi, and insane at worst. He was hated, and everything about him was disparaged and dragged through the mud.
Remember stuff like this, from his Atlantic Monthly photo shoot?

THAT is just one small example what the left truly felt about John McCain, and what we were treated to during the election on a daily basis. Not hero. Not man of dignity. Not a finder of common ground. Nope, he was Satan.
He was treated just like every Republican presidential candidate from Bush on has been treated. Nazi. Warmonger. Evil.
Save your tears, lefties. You hated this man in a cruel and unfair way, and your unfair hatred ultimately paved a path for a rise of a guy like Trump.
Own it.
